Deus ex machina of inverted worlds by MANDELWERK Deus ex machina of inverted worlds by MANDELWERK
If you haven't read "The Inverted World" by Christopher Priest you should!

"A uniquely powerful novel of a society in decay. On a planet whose very nature is a mystery a massive decrepit city is pulled along a massive railway track, laying the line down before it as it progresses into the wilderness."

I read it many years ago and it gave me lots of inspirationů

...I felt it needed a Deus ex Machina at the endů :/
Beware of spoilers in the wiki article!!! : [link]

Like some incredible spaceship...

Would you mind if i were to try drawing one or two of these, using them as references for landscapes or, in this case, space ships?

Now, this really is more my cup of tea mate! :tea: Think I read this many moons
ago, but my aged and greying brain cells can no longer fully bring it to mind.
The sense of movement is very well expressed here in a very dynamic image Johan!

No problem Mark, I am a slow commenter myself... ;)

It was many years ago I read it, but when I found this place it came back to me very strongly.
What inspired me most about the book was the fact that they lived on a very narrow band of stability.
In forward direction the world was all flat, and behind them everything got stretched out in height.

I used it visually in some of my oil paintings from that time (late eighties)

And I have the same feeling from many of the surfaces I have been visiting the last two years... ;)

I knew this was your cup of tea Mark, glad you like it!

I admit that this is a very and very well done picture, but I'm almost lost as to what I'm focusing on. Perhaps I'm not thinking abstractly enough.
